Superstar Rajinikanth sent fans into a frenzy recently when he boarded an IndiGo flight in economy class, sparking cheers and camera flashes from fellow passengers. A now-viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter) captures the moment the Tamil cinema icon walked down the aisle of the aircraft, smiling and waving as stunned fans erupted with excitement.

“THATS RIGHT. I GOT தலைவர் தரிசனம்!!!!!!!! (Thalaivar’s darshan) Crying. Shivering. Heart beating peakeddddddd,” wrote one overwhelmed fan who recorded the video. In the clip, passengers can be heard calling out “Thalaiva!”—a beloved nickname for the actor—as they wave and try to catch his attention. Rajinikanth, ever the humble star, acknowledges them with a warm smile and a wave, seemingly unfazed by the attention.

Social media users were quick to gush over the video. “There’s genuine glee on his face too, what a man,” one fan commented. Another called it “a video for the ages,” while many highlighted how refreshing it was to see the 73-year-old actor choosing to fly economy despite his legendary status.

This isn’t the first time Rajinikanth has taken the humble route while travelling. In March 2024, he was seen flying economy from Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, casually chatting with fellow passengers and crew. Actor Jiiva, who bumped into him on the airport shuttle the same day, shared a photo captioned, “Flying high with the superstar Rajinikanth sir!”

Last seen in ‘Vettaiyan’ (2024), where he played a ruthless cop on a path to redemption, Rajinikanth is next slated to appear in Coolie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and ‘Jailer 2’ by Nelson Dilipkumar.
