Two decades after actress Soundarya’s tragic death in a plane crash, fresh allegations have emerged against veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu, linking her death to a property dispute.
A complaint filed in Khammam in Andhra Pradesh, claims that Soundarya’s untimely demise in 2004 was not an accident but murder, allegedly tied to a six-acre land dispute in Shamshabad’s Jalpalli village.
According to complainant Chittimallu, Soundarya and her brother, Amarnath, had refused to sell their land despite pressure from Mohan Babu. The alleged conflict escalated, and after Soundarya’s death, Mohan Babu forcefully occupied the land, the complaint claims.
Soundarya, a major star in Kannada and South Indian cinema, was also known for her role as Radha in the 1999 Bollywood film Sooryavansham opposite Amitabh Bachchan, was On April 17, 2004, she and her brother died when their private jet crashed en route to a political event in Karimnagar. Reports at the time stated that Soundarya was pregnant, and her body was never recovered.
Chittimallu, has reportedly filed complaints with both the Khammam ACP and the Khammam District Officer, urging authorities to seize the disputed land for public welfare, proposing its use for orphanages, military families, or media personnel. He has also requested police protection, citing threats to his life.
The complaint also references family tensions within the Manchu household, where Mohan Babu was involved in a physical altercation with a journalist amid a dispute with his younger son, Manchu Manoj.
While no FIR has been registered yet, the allegations have reignited controversy around Soundarya’s death, raising calls for a fresh police investigation into the matter.
