Actor Janhvi Kapoor has drawn criticism on social media after telling Veer Pahariya to “never take her to a concert” during an episode of Koffee With Karan. The remark was widely interpreted as a dig at Veer’s former girlfriend, actor Tara Sutaria, and the controversy surrounding her appearance with singer AP Dhillon at a Mumbai concert in December 2025. Several viewers accused Janhvi of putting another woman down for a joke, reigniting online discussions about an incident that had previously attracted widespread attention. While some found the comment cheeky, others questioned why Tara’s experience had become the subject of humour.
The backlash gathered pace as social media users criticised Janhvi’s choice of words. One user wrote, “Putting other women down isn't funny, it's just embarrassing.” Another commented, “She stooped so low just to win a hamper.” Others expressed disappointment that Janhvi had seemingly chosen to take a dig at another woman rather than avoid the subject. Much of the criticism focused on the context behind the one-liner, with viewers arguing that it revived scrutiny of Tara’s personal life. The remark offered little explanation on the show, leaving audiences to connect it with the earlier concert controversy.
Janhvi made the comment during the rapid-fire round of Koffee With Karan, where she appeared alongside her Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari co-star Varun Dhawan. Host Karan Johar asked her what advice she would give Veer, the brother of her partner, Shikhar Pahariya. Janhvi replied, “Never take her to a concert.” Varun, Karan Johar and Arjun Kapoor, who made a cameo appearance, exchanged blank looks following the remark. Although the exchange was brief, it quickly became a talking point online as viewers linked it to Tara and Veer’s reported relationship history.

Tara and Veer reportedly began dating in early 2025 and were spotted together on outings, including a reported holiday in Italy. They made their relationship public on Instagram in July that year but were said to have separated around six months later. Neither has publicly confirmed the precise reason for their reported breakup. In December 2025, Tara joined AP Dhillon on stage during his Mumbai concert. A video showing the singer hugging her and giving her a peck on the cheek went viral, prompting speculation about Veer’s reaction and the state of their relationship.
The discussion intensified after footage circulated online that viewers interpreted as showing Veer looking uncomfortable. Veer later clarified that the clip being used to suggest he was unhappy had been taken from a different part of the concert. Tara also pushed back against what she described as false narratives and paid public relations campaigns. The concert footage did not establish what had happened between the former couple, but it became the subject of widespread online debate. Janhvi’s remark has now brought the episode back into public discussion, with critics questioning whether the joke came at Tara’s expense.
On the professional front, Janhvi is expected to appear alongside Tiger Shroff and Lakshya in Lag Jaa Gale, an action entertainer backed by Dharma Productions and directed by Raj Mehta. The film is expected to arrive in the summer of 2027. She is also reportedly part of Raaka, an upcoming science-fiction action film directed by Atlee and starring Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone. Backed by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, the project is currently in production.
