A cab driver in Gurugram faced an ordeal when a female passenger, identified as Jyoti Dalal, allegedly refused to pay the fare after an extended ride across multiple locations and threatened to falsely accuse him of theft or molestation. According to the complaint filed by driver Ziauddin from Dhana village in Nuh district, the incident began around 8 am on Tuesday when Dalal booked the ride. She first directed him to Sector 31, then to the bus stand, and later to Cyber City, extending the trip for several hours. During this time, she reportedly asked for and received Rs 700 from the driver, while he also covered expenses for her food and drinks at various stops.
The situation escalated in the afternoon when Ziauddin requested payment to conclude the ride. The driver alleged that Dalal reacted with anger, refusing to settle the fare and issuing threats to implicate him in serious criminal cases, including molestation. She then proceeded to the Sector 29 Police Station, where she reportedly created a disturbance. After she left the station, Ziauddin approached the police to explain his side of the story. Officers recognized Dalal as the same individual previously involved in similar incidents, including defrauding a salon of Rs 20,000 and refusing to pay Rs 2,000 to another cab driver. A video of her arguing with a cab driver over fare payment had also gone viral in February 2024.
Police have taken cognizance of the latest complaint and registered an FIR against Jyoti Dalal under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to fraud and other offenses. Sector 29 Police Station SHO Ravi Kumar confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway, with efforts focused on locating and arresting the accused soon. Authorities noted her pattern of behavior across multiple incidents involving service providers, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations against her.
