Actor and TVK Chief Vijay’s wife, Sankgeetha Sornalingam, has filed a fresh petition in the Chengalpattu District Court seeking permission to continue residing in the matrimonial home until the ongoing divorce proceedings are concluded.
In her petition, Sankgeetha noted that as a United Kingdom citizen, she currently lacks adequate residential facilities in Chennai. She requested the court to grant an interim order allowing her to stay in the present home until the divorce case is resolved or until equivalent alternative accommodation is provided by Vijay.
The petition follows Vijay’s recent public appearance with actress Trisha Krishnan at a wedding reception in Chennai, which drew widespread attention on social media. Sankgeetha had earlier filed a divorce petition seeking dissolution of the marriage, along with rights to reside in the matrimonial home and claim permanent alimony.

Her legal counsel stated that several attempts were made to reach an amicable separation through mutual consent, taking into account Vijay’s professional and political engagements, but those efforts did not materialize. The petition further alleged that Vijay’s representatives indicated she would not be allowed to stay in the home if she pursued legal separation.
Sankgeetha emphasised that, being a British national, she currently has no alternative accommodation matching the family’s status. The plea seeks the court’s intervention to ensure she can remain in the residence until the divorce proceedings conclude or an equivalent arrangement is made.
Vijay has not yet responded to the latest petition. Separately, he is scheduled to mark International Women’s Day by announcing initiatives for women ahead of the 2026 elections, highlighting his ongoing public and political engagements amidst the personal dispute.
