Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has officially confirmed a standalone film centered on Suriya’s menacing character Rolex from the 2022 blockbuster Vikram, igniting excitement among fans of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
The announcement came during a Q&A session with aspiring filmmakers at Chennai’s Koogai Library, where Kanagaraj shared updates on his upcoming projects.
Suriya’s brief but electrifying cameo as the drug lord Rolex in Vikram left audiences clamoring for more, prompting Kanagaraj to develop a full-length feature.

“After Rolex became a fan favorite, it felt right to dive deeper into the character,” Kanagaraj said, emphasizing his vision to expand the LCU, which includes hits like Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. Suriya, currently promoting his period action film Kanguva, confirmed discussions with Kanagaraj, revealing that the director narrated a compelling one-liner for the Rolex film.
While Kanagaraj is filming Coolie with Rajinikanth and has Kaithi 2 next, where Suriya’s Rolex is expected to appear, the Rolex movie is slated to follow. Suriya hinted at the film’s dark tone, stating, “Lokesh won’t compromise; it’ll be out-and-out Rolex, no softening the character.”
Fans are also buzzing about a potential second collaboration on Kanagaraj’s dream project, Irumbu Kai Mayavi, though Rolex takes priority.
