Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is nearing Rs 30 crore in worldwide opening-day advance bookings, with overseas markets accounting for a substantial share of pre-release ticket sales ahead of its October 15 theatrical release. The sequel, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has crossed Rs 20 crore in overseas pre-sales, while bookings in India are continuing to grow. With three days remaining before the film reaches theatres and additional shows yet to open, its advance booking total could increase further, according to figures reported by trade tracker Sacnilk.
Overseas markets have emerged as a major contributor to the film’s early commercial performance, with international advance bookings exceeding Rs 20 crore. The strong response has helped the sequel approach the Rs 30-crore worldwide mark before its release. Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the character he played in the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The combination of the actor’s popularity, Nelson’s direction and the franchise’s established audience has generated considerable interest in the second instalment.
Domestic advance bookings have also recorded significant numbers. According to Sacnilk’s tracker, Jailer 2 has collected Rs 10.79 crore in gross opening-day advance bookings across India for October 15. The film has sold approximately 5.69 lakh tickets across 4,843 shows in 771 cinemas spanning 242 cities. Across the three days currently available for advance booking, domestic gross pre-sales have reached Rs 16.56 crore, including the opening-day figure. The reported totals include online advance sales, while the figures are lower when seats blocked by cinemas are excluded.

Tamil Nadu remains the film’s largest domestic market, contributing Rs 6.34 crore in opening-day advance bookings. Kerala follows with Rs 2.63 crore, while Karnataka has recorded Rs 1.22 crore. Telangana has contributed approximately Rs 47.35 lakh. Among individual cities, Chennai leads with Rs 3.15 crore in opening-day advance sales, followed by Bengaluru at Rs 1.17 crore and Coimbatore at nearly Rs 58 lakh. The figures indicate strong demand in Tamil Nadu alongside interest in neighbouring southern markets.
The advance booking data also points to comparatively stronger demand for night screenings. According to the tracker, opening-day night shows have recorded 41 per cent occupancy across 1,610 shows, marginally ahead of morning shows at 40 per cent. Afternoon screenings have registered 28 per cent occupancy, while evening shows stand at 27 per cent. The tracker has also listed 72 sold-out opening-day shows and another 337 as almost full. Tamil-language 2D screenings account for most domestic pre-sales, generating Rs 10.29 crore in opening-day gross bookings, while the Telugu and Hindi versions have recorded smaller totals so far.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Jailer 2 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15. Alongside Rajinikanth, the cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa, while Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar return to the franchise. Vidya Balan, S J Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Jatin Sarna are also part of the ensemble. With advance sales still open and more shows expected to become available, the film’s final pre-release booking figures will depend on ticket demand in India and overseas markets over the remaining days.
