Actor Kamal Haasan has said there is no jealousy between him and fellow superstar Rajinikanth, emphasising that their long-standing relationship has been defined by healthy competition rather than rivalry. His remarks came during a recent media interaction where questions were raised about their dynamic in the Tamil film industry.
Responding to a reporter’s comment referencing Rajinikanth’s earlier statement about political developments in Tamil Nadu, Kamal Haasan clarified that such remarks were made in a light-hearted manner and should not be interpreted as personal rivalry. He stressed that both actors have shared a professional journey marked by mutual respect over several decades.
“We have never been jealous of each other, but we have competed with one another,” Haasan said, addressing the perception of tension between the two stars. He added that both he and Rajinikanth have always viewed their careers through the lens of performance and audience appreciation rather than personal comparison.

Haasan further described their relationship as one rooted in sportsmanlike spirit, stating, “We are the best sportsmen you can find in Tamil Nadu. We are in the field of cinema. Even if we had played cricket, we would have been like this,” highlighting the competitive but respectful nature of their long-standing careers.
The actor’s comments come at a time when discussions around Tamil cinema’s legacy stars continue to draw public attention, particularly given their influence across generations of audiences and the cultural impact of their films. Both actors remain active figures in the industry, with occasional political associations and public engagements.
Meanwhile, Haasan recently met the new Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, where he reportedly presented suggestions aimed at supporting and strengthening the state’s film industry.
