The highly anticipated shooting of Drishyam 3, the latest installment in the acclaimed Drishyam franchise starring superstar Mohanlal, commenced at SN Law College in Poothotta, Kochi. The event was marked by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and pooja, attended by Mohanlal, director Jeethu Joseph, and producer Antony Perumbavoor, setting an auspicious tone for the production.
Mohanlal, who recently won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinematic honor, expressed his joy at the milestone while speaking to reporters. Addressing his iconic role as Georgekutty, he teased, “No doubt Georgekutty will create some trouble. But I have been told not to reveal much. The suspense is the excitement and catch of Drishyam 3.” He also noted that he would travel to New Delhi to receive the award following the inauguration event.
The Drishyam series has garnered widespread acclaim, with Drishyam 1 (2013) and Drishyam 2 (2021) achieving pan-India success and inspiring remakes in languages such as Hindi, Sinhala, Mandarin, and Korean. Director Jeethu Joseph emphasized that Drishyam 3 is not a conventional thriller but a family drama, focusing on the evolution of Georgekutty’s family over the past four years. “Audiences should come with curiosity, not over-expectations,” he advised, building anticipation for the film’s narrative depth.
