Actor Dulquer Salmaan has responded to criticism surrounding the performance of his Malayalam film I'm Game, defending the team behind the project and taking responsibility for its outcome. The actor addressed comments from a fan on X who had attributed problems with the film to his production company, Wayfarer Films. Dulquer acknowledged that some of the criticism had merit but said filmmaking involves several factors beyond a production team's direct control.
Dulquer explained that a film involves the efforts of hundreds of people and cannot always be assessed through a fixed formula after its release. He said circumstances outside a production team's control can affect the final result even when those involved believe they have made the right decisions. He also emphasised that judging a completed film is different from understanding the many decisions and challenges involved in making it.
The actor also stood by Wayfarer Films, which produced I'm Game. Responding to criticism directed at the production house, Dulquer said he would continue to support his colleagues and indicated that he was willing to personally accept responsibility if someone wanted to assign blame. He added that neither actors nor production houses deliberately set out to make mistakes or produce a poor film.

I'm Game marked Dulquer's return to Malayalam cinema after a three-year gap. Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, the fantasy action thriller was released in theatres on September 3 and also features Antony Varghese, Mysskin, Kayadu Lohar, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Kathir and Vinay Forrt. The film received mixed responses following its theatrical release and did not perform as expected at the box office.
The film's release had also faced reported scheduling and screening-related issues, with some viewers raising concerns about delays in delivering versions of the film to theatres. The project had initially been planned as an Onam release before being moved to September. These issues became part of the wider discussion surrounding the film's theatrical performance and its production and release process.
Dulquer's response comes as discussion over I'm Game continues among audiences and online film communities. While acknowledging that some criticism of the project was valid, the actor stressed the complexity of filmmaking and reiterated his support for the people who worked on the film. His comments have shifted the focus from assigning responsibility to the broader challenges involved in producing and releasing a feature film.
