Marvel Studios is set to bring Avengers: Endgame back to cinemas with a special theatrical release titled Endgame Encore, ahead of the arrival of Avengers: Doomsday. The re-release will feature several minutes of new material, including a fresh introduction, additional scenes and a special ending connected to the upcoming Avengers film.
Joe Russo, who directed Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Doomsday with his brother Anthony Russo, has described Endgame Encore as “required viewing” for audiences planning to watch Doomsday. He explained that the updated theatrical version will help establish a narrative connection between the two films and show the progression from the events of Endgame into the next chapter.
Speaking with Fandango, Russo pointed to two reasons for returning to theatres for the re-release. He said fans can revisit the excitement and emotion of experiencing Endgame on the big screen, while also using the additional material to better follow the story that will continue in Doomsday.

Avengers: Endgame originally concluded Marvel’s Infinity Saga in 2019 and became one of the studio’s biggest theatrical releases. Seven years later, Endgame Encore is expected to revisit the film while adding new content designed to connect it with the broader storyline leading into Avengers: Doomsday. The additional footage is expected to run for around four to five minutes.
Avengers: Doomsday features a large ensemble cast, including Robert Downey Jr., Pedro Pascal, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Wyatt Russell. The film also includes several returning Marvel and X-Men actors, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, Hayley Atwell, James Marsden and Sebastian Stan, among others.
Avengers: Endgame Encore is scheduled to return to theatres on September 25, while Avengers: Doomsday is set for release on December 18. The re-release is expected to give Marvel audiences an opportunity to revisit the earlier film while offering additional material connected to the upcoming storyline.
