The Kannada film and theatre community is reeling from the untimely demise of veteran actor Raju Talikote, who succumbed to a heart attack at the age of 62 while shooting for an upcoming film in Udupi, Karnataka. Admitted to Kasturba Hospital at 1:30 AM on Sunday following health complications, Talikote underwent an angioplasty but could not be saved. His passing marks a profound loss for an industry where he brought joy through his comedic roles and directorial prowess, survived by two wives, two sons, and three daughters.
Talikote's son confirmed the tragic news, revealing that the actor had previously survived a heart attack but was unable to overcome this one. Speaking to the media, he highlighted the family's harmonious life despite the unconventional setup with two wives. As per reports from India Today, the last rites will be performed in Talikote's native Chikkasindagi village, Karnataka, allowing the community to bid farewell to a beloved figure whose life was steeped in the performing arts.
Born in 1963 into a family of theatre artists associated with the 'Shriguru Khasgateshwara Natya Sangha' drama troupe, Raju Talikote—adopting his stage name after early recognition—faced immense hardships, including dropping out of school following his parents' death. Undeterred, he carried forward their legacy, debuting in Kannada cinema with Hendathi Andare Hendathi and captivating audiences in films like Manasare, Pancharangi, Rajadhani, Lifeu Ishtene, Alemari, Myna, and Topiwala. His theatre work, including directing at Dharwad Rangayana, and appearance on Bigg Boss Kannada Season 7 further cemented his versatile talent.

Shivakumar expressed profound grief on X, stating, "The renowned theatre actor, comedian, and director of Dharwad Rangayana, Raju Talikoti, has passed away due to a heart attack, which is an extremely sorrowful event... I pray that God grants peace to Raju Talikoti's soul and gives strength to his family." Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar echoed the sentiment, calling it an "irreplaceable loss to the Kannada film industry" and praying for the family's resilience.
