Anthony and Joe Russo have confirmed that filming for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars is taking place back-to-back in London. The duo, known for helming some of Marvel’s biggest hits, revealed that the ambitious project is both exciting and challenging.
"It's all in London, we're shooting them fairly back-to-back. It's a lot of work again; we may or may not survive; we'll see," Joe Russo told Deadline. He hinted at a complex storyline that will push both filmmakers and audiences.
When asked about potential appearances from the X-Men or Deadpool, Joe remained vague. "Who knows? Anybody in the Marvel bag could show up," he said. Anthony humorously added, "If you close your eyes and use your imagination, you can see anyone you want."
The Russos have previously directed four Marvel blockbusters, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Now, they return to lead the MCU’s next phase, with Avengers: Doomsday set for release on May 1, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
Marvel Studios is building toward these films with major projects like Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, production has faced hurdles, including reported filming delays. Scheduling conflicts are another challenge, with Tom Holland’s scenes possibly requiring a stunt double due to his commitments.
Rumors are swirling about major character appearances, with speculation surrounding Wolverine, Gambit, and even Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Avengers: Doomsday is expected to explore the multiverse, while Secret Wars may introduce the X-Men into the MCU.
With high stakes and an all-star cast, the Russo Brothers are set to deliver another epic chapter in Marvel’s history.
