David Corenswet is gearing up to don the iconic red cape once again as Superman in the highly anticipated sequel to the 2025 *Superman* reboot. Titled *Man of Tomorrow*, the film is directed by James Gunn, co-head of DC Films, and is slated to soar into U.S. theatres on July 9, 2027.
Gunn announced the sequel’s title and release date on X, sharing a striking comic book image of Superman standing alongside his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor, clad in his signature warsuit. “Man of Tomorrow. In theatres July 9, 2027,” Gunn posted, igniting excitement among fans of the DC Universe.
The first *Superman* film, released in July 2025, marked a bold new chapter for the franchise, with Corenswet stepping into the role previously played by Henry Cavill. Rachel Brosnahan starred as journalist Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult portrayed the cunning Lex Luthor. The reboot was a summer blockbuster, praised for its fresh take on the classic superhero.

According to Variety, *Man of Tomorrow* will follow the 2026 release of *Supergirl*, directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Milly Alcock as the titular hero. Notably, the *Superman* sequel will hit theatres before Matt Reeves’ *The Batman Part II*, featuring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, which is set for October 1, 2027.
