Hollywood heavyweights Kevin Hart and John Cena are set to headline "The Leading Man," an action-comedy film coming to Netflix, based on the comic book series by Jeremy Haun and B Clay Moore. The duo will also produce the project, as reported by Deadline.
The film follows a self-absorbed movie star, played by Cena, who discovers his co-star and "man in the chair," portrayed by Hart, is a real-life agent. Forced to set aside his ego, the actor learns that action stars aren’t true heroes while racing to save the world. The high-energy plot promises a blend of humor, action, and heart, showcasing the chemistry between the two stars.
Joining Hart and Cena as producers are Luke Kelly-Clyne and Bryan Smiley of Hartbeat, Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum of RK Films, Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin of Ignition Productions, and Dan Baime. The project marks another collaboration for Hart with Netflix, where he’ll next appear in a comedy alongside Marcello Hernández and Mason Gooding, directed by Tim Story. Cena, meanwhile, is gearing up for the legal comedy "Coyote vs Acme," set for release on August 28, 2026, directed by Dave Green and co-starring Lana Condor and Will Forte.
