Tamil actor and professional racer Ajith Kumar is mourning the loss of his mother, Mohini Mani, who passed away at the age of 85 in Chennai on Saturday. According to reports, she had been dealing with age-related health issues before her death. The news prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans, political leaders, and members of the film industry, who expressed their support for the actor and his family during the difficult time.
Mohini Mani’s death comes three years after the passing of her husband, P. Subramaniam, popularly known as P.S. Mani, who also died at the age of 85 in March 2023. Reports indicate that funeral rites are expected to be conducted at the family’s residence in Palavakkam, Chennai. Ajith Kumar, who is currently in Dubai, is reportedly expected to return to Chennai to participate in the final rites.
While Ajith Kumar and his team have not yet released an official statement, the news was confirmed by multiple media outlets and film industry observers. Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin also expressed grief over the loss. In his condolence message, he said he was pained to learn of Mohini Mani’s passing and conveyed his sympathies to Ajith Kumar and his family. He added that the memories shared with a mother often become a source of strength and comfort during periods of profound personal loss. BJP leader K. Annamalai likewise offered condolences and prayed for her soul to rest in peace.
