Tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border escalated sharply after Afghan forces reportedly attacked multiple Pakistani border posts, claiming dozens of casualties. Pakistan has responded with retaliatory strikes, intensifying an already fragile security situation in the region.

According to Pakistani military sources, the Afghan assault targeted several checkpoints in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulting in significant damage. While exact casualty figures are yet to be independently verified, authorities have confirmed losses among border security personnel and civilians caught in the crossfire.

In retaliation, Pakistan launched counter-operations along the border, aiming to neutralise what it described as “cross-border threats” emanating from Afghan territory. Pakistani Defence officials stated that the strikes were limited to military targets and warned against further incursions.
