Tamil superstar Vijay’s latest release Jana Nayagan continues its strong run at the box office, with the film moving closer to the ₹150 crore mark in domestic net collections within five days of its theatrical release. The film, which arrived in cinemas on July 23, has maintained steady audience interest despite facing competition from other releases. According to trade figures, Jana Nayagan earned a net collection of ₹10.15 crore in India on Day 5 across 10,436 shows.
With this addition, the film’s total domestic net collection reached ₹134.90 crore, while its India gross collection stood at ₹157.74 crore. The film has also performed well in overseas markets. On its fifth day, Jana Nayagan collected ₹4 crore internationally, taking its total overseas gross collection to ₹75.50 crore. The worldwide gross collection of the Vijay-starrer has now reached ₹233.24 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The Tamil version remained the biggest contributor to the Day 5 earnings, collecting ₹8.40 crore from 4,969 shows.
The Hindi version added ₹1.20 crore from 4,327 shows, indicating continued interest from audiences beyond the film’s core Tamil-speaking market. The film’s performance has attracted attention from trade analysts, with expectations of a strong theatrical run. Trade expert Ramesh Bala had earlier predicted a major opening for the Vijay-starrer, estimating that the film could earn around ₹60 crore in India on its first day and approximately ₹90 crore globally. For the opening weekend, Bala had projected collections in the range of ₹150 crore to ₹180 crore in India and around ₹250 crore worldwide.

Another trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, did not provide exact figures but described the expected opening as likely to be a major event for the industry. Jana Nayagan marks another major release for Vijay, whose films have consistently attracted large audiences across Tamil Nadu and international markets. The actor’s strong fan base, extensive promotional campaigns and the film’s wide release have contributed to its box office momentum. The film’s steady earnings in the first five days suggest that it has established a strong foundation at the box office.
While weekday collections are usually lower compared to opening weekend numbers, the movie has managed to maintain a significant pace. Industry observers will now be watching whether Jana Nayagan can cross the ₹150 crore domestic net milestone and continue its global box office journey in the coming days. The film’s final performance will depend on audience response, repeat viewership and competition from upcoming releases.
