Actor Ram Charan’s latest release Peddi witnessed a grand theatrical reception in Hyderabad, with fans and film enthusiasts turning up in large numbers for its premiere and early screenings. The sports drama, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and starring Janhvi Kapoor alongside Ram, had its premiere on June 3 ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on June 4. The film’s opening shows were marked by high energy, loud celebrations, and enthusiastic audience reactions across theatres.
Adding to the excitement, Ram’s wife and entrepreneur Upasana Konidela joined fans at a Hyderabad theatre to watch the film, becoming one of the most talked-about highlights of the evening. Multiple videos circulating on social media showed her enthusiastically participating in the celebrations inside the packed auditorium, cheering during key moments and visibly enjoying the audience reaction to her husband’s performance.
Inside the theatre, the atmosphere was described as electric, with fans erupting into whistles, applause, and loud cheers during Ram’s standout scenes. Upasana was seen seated among the audience, laughing and reacting to the film along with fans. In one widely shared clip, she was also seen playfully picking up paper bits from the floor and tossing them into the air, adding to the confetti-like celebration inside the hall.

Peddi, written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana in his second film after Uppena (2021), is a sports drama that follows the journey of a man exploring identity through multiple sporting disciplines, including cricket, wrestling, and sprinting. The film also features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani in key roles, with music composed by A.R. Rahman.
Early reviews have noted that the film attempts to explore deeper themes of identity while delivering a sports-driven narrative. While some critiques point to uneven storytelling in parts, the film has been praised for its performances and music, particularly Ram’s screen presence and the emotionally charged sporting sequences. The production is backed by Vriddhi Cinemas, IVY Entertainment, and presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings.
