Soni Razdan has recalled how filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra honoured a promise to pay the cast of Khamosh even a decade after the film was released. The actor revealed that she and the other cast members had not received remuneration when they worked on the 1986 suspense thriller, with Chopra promising that they would be paid once he recovered the film's costs.
Razdan recalled that Chopra had told the cast that everyone would receive their payment once the film was sold or its production expenses were recovered. Although Khamosh did not become a commercial success in theatres, the film later gained a wider audience after its television rights were sold. Razdan said the filmmaker eventually followed through on his promise.
According to Razdan, she received a cheque at her home nearly 10 years after the film's release. She initially did not understand why the payment had been sent and contacted Chopra to ask about it. The filmmaker reportedly reminded her of his earlier promise and told her that he was now fulfilling his commitment to pay her.

Razdan described the incident as a deeply memorable moment and praised Chopra for keeping his word after so many years. Her recollection highlights how the financial outcome of the film eventually allowed the filmmaker to settle the remuneration promised to those who had worked on the project.
Khamosh marked Chopra's second feature film, with the filmmaker also serving as its producer. The film featured an ensemble cast including Razdan, Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Amol Palekar and Pankaj Kapoor. The story follows a film crew shooting in Kashmir, where an apparent suicide is initially covered up to avoid negative publicity.
The film's story takes a darker turn when the victim's brother, an army officer, arrives at the location undercover and begins investigating what happened. As he looks into the circumstances surrounding the incident, further murders take place within the film unit before the killer is eventually exposed. Razdan was most recently seen in the Netflix series Shaque, which began streaming on September 24 and also stars Parineeti Chopra, Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Sumeet Vyas and Harleen Sethi.
