Bollywood singer and composer Sachin Sanghvi, known for chartbusters from films like Stree 2 and Bhediya, has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a woman after allegedly luring her with promises of a role in a music album and marriage. Police confirmed his arrest on Thursday under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, following a detailed probe into the allegations.
According to an official quoted by PTI, the complainant — a woman in her 20s — stated that she came in contact with Sanghvi in February 2024 through Instagram. After several exchanges online, Sanghvi reportedly invited her to his studio. There, he allegedly proposed marriage and later sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions under false pretenses. The police added that the accused was taken into custody after verifying the complaint and gathering preliminary evidence.
Sanghvi, a recognised name in the Indian music industry, is one half of the acclaimed composer duo Sachin–Jigar. The duo has delivered several hit songs over the past decade, including Jeene Laga Hoon (Ramaiya Vastavaiya), Sun Saathiya (ABCD 2), Chunar, Apna Bana Le (Bhediya), and Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin (Meri Pyaari Bindu).
