The first song from Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated film Ramayana has been unveiled, offering audiences a devotional and cinematic interpretation of the traditional Rama bhajan “Jai Siya Ram”. Composed by A.R. Rahman, the song has been sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, while the lyrics have been written by Dr Kumar Vishwas. The musical release introduces the epic’s central characters through a blend of devotion, romance and grand visual storytelling.
The music video features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, capturing moments from their wedding and their life in Ayodhya. Several sequences show Rama and Sita travelling together in a chariot through the streets of the kingdom, as citizens shower them with flower petals. The visuals present the couple in a serene and celebratory setting, while also highlighting Rama’s strength and abilities as a warrior.
The song offers a contemporary reimagining of the familiar devotional tradition while retaining the spiritual essence associated with the story of Rama. Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal bring their distinct vocal styles to the composition, allowing the track to balance its devotional character with the emotional scale expected from a major cinematic adaptation. Rahman’s music further adds a sweeping quality to the presentation of the ancient epic.

Before the song was released, the makers shared a new poster featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in their respective roles. In the poster, Rama is seen placing a flower in Sita’s hair against a peaceful and picturesque backdrop. The promotional material has focused on the emotional bond between the characters, while the film’s larger campaign has also teased its extensive cast and mythological world.
The film’s trailer has introduced several key characters, including Yash as Ravana, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha and Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjihva, the demon prince and Shurpanakha’s husband. Sunny Deol, who plays Hanuman, was notably absent from the trailer. The project promises a large-scale visual spectacle driven by extensive CGI and visual effects, with veteran actor Arun Govil, who famously played Rama on Indian television, appearing as King Dasharatha.
Ramayana is being made in two parts on a reported budget of around Rs 4,000 crore, or approximately $500 million, for the combined production. The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide release in October 2026 ahead of Diwali, while the second part is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey and Yash are among the prominent actors playing pivotal roles in the ambitious adaptation.
