Priyanka Chopra has spoken out against gender stereotypes linked to household responsibilities, saying that chores such as cooking and cleaning should not be treated as women's work. Speaking at Cannes Lions, the actor said these everyday duties are basic life skills that every adult should learn, regardless of gender. Her remarks have drawn attention as conversations around equal domestic responsibilities continue to grow across homes and workplaces.

Priyanka said many societies still place the burden of household management on women, even when both men and women are equally involved in professional life. She criticised the idea that cooking, cleaning or managing a home should automatically be seen as a woman's responsibility. The actor said such attitudes reflect outdated thinking and must be challenged in everyday life.

"Cleaning and cooking aren't women's work. They're basic adulting. Don't confuse gender with laziness," Priyanka said, strongly rejecting the stereotype. Her comment highlighted the larger issue of how domestic labour is often undervalued when performed by women and ignored as a shared responsibility within families. The statement was widely seen as a call for men and women to treat household work as a common duty rather than a gender-based obligation.

During the same interaction, Priyanka also spoke about the changing nature of cinema and storytelling across the world. She said technology has made filmmaking more accessible than before, allowing people with ideas to create and share their work without waiting for traditional industry entry points. Referring to the Hollywood supernatural horror film Obsession, she said creators today have more platforms and opportunities to reach audiences directly.

On the professional front, Priyanka is preparing for her return to Indian cinema after an eight-year gap with Varanasi, directed by S. S. Rajamouli. The pan-India film also stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran and is reportedly being made on a massive budget of around Rs 1,000 crore. The film is expected to be one of the most expensive Indian productions and is scheduled for theatrical release in April 2027.

Priyanka has also indicated that a joint project with Hollywood star Angelina Jolie is in the works, though she has not revealed details about its format or subject. The actor confirmed their association in a recent conversation but did not clarify whether the collaboration would be related to a film, endorsement, social campaign or philanthropic initiative. With major international and Indian projects ahead, Priyanka continues to balance her global entertainment career with strong public commentary on social issues.
