Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has revealed the regimen behind his dramatic 10-kilo weight loss, crediting a combination of medical intervention, lifestyle changes, and consistency. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on May 1, Mehta shared that he began using Mounjaro—a medication developed for type 2 diabetes that has gained popularity for its weight-loss benefits—under medical supervision to tackle rising blood sugar and increasing weight.
“Under medical guidance, I began Mounjaro to address rising blood sugar levels in the pre-diabetic range and to manage my steadily increasing weight,” Mehta wrote. “Paired with a committed lifestyle shift—high-protein meals, minimal sugar and alcohol, regular strength training, proper hydration, 14–18 hour intermittent fasting, NMN + Resveratrol supplements, and better sleep—I’ve seen tangible results.”
Alongside the post, Mehta shared recent photos of his leaner frame, noting that in just a few months, he had dropped nearly 10 kilos, gained muscle mass, improved energy levels, and returned to normal blood sugar readings. “Insulin resistance has dropped, and yes, the old clothes are falling off,” he added.

GLP-1 receptor agonists like Ozempic and Mounjaro have seen a surge in use among celebrities for weight loss, though few Indian public figures have spoken openly about it. Mehta said he shared his journey to challenge the stigma around such medications.
“There’s no shame in taking charge of your health with the tools available to you—especially when done responsibly and under supervision,” he wrote. “If you’re struggling with similar issues, speak to your healthcare provider. It might just be the beginning of a journey you’ll be grateful for.”
Mounjaro, made by Eli Lilly, was recently launched in India and is being hailed as a potential game-changer in weight management.
