Bollywood and television actor Mouni Roy opened up on Instagram about a deeply unsettling incident she faced at a recent event in Karnal, Haryana. What was intended to be a celebratory stage appearance reportedly turned into a distressing experience as members of the audience allegedly behaved inappropriately, leaving the actor “disgusted and humiliated.”
According to her detailed note, the harassment began even before she reached the stage. “As I walked towards the stage, uncles and family members (all men) put their hands on my waist to click pictures. I immediately objected, saying ‘sir please remove your hand,’” Mouni wrote. She noted that despite her protest, the behavior escalated once she was on stage.
Onstage, two men allegedly positioned themselves at the front, making lewd gestures and name-calling. “I first tried to handle it politely, gesturing to them to stop, but they began throwing roses at me,” she explained. Mouni even attempted to leave mid-performance but returned to complete her act, underscoring her professionalism despite feeling unsafe.

She further described feeling vulnerable due to the stage setup. “The stage was elevated, and these uncles were making videos from low angles. When others asked them to stop, they abused them,” she said, highlighting the lack of intervention from event organizers or family members present.
The actor expressed her emotional turmoil over the incident, calling for accountability. “I am humiliated, traumatised and want the authorities to take action for this intolerable behavior,” she wrote, emphasizing that such entitlement and misconduct were unacceptable, especially towards women trying to earn a living through their craft.
Ending her post, Mouni stressed the broader message about respect for women, saying, “We are artists trying to earn an honest living. Wonder what these men would do if their friends behaved the same with their daughters, sisters, or family members—shame on you!” She concluded by reaffirming her love for her country while condemning the inappropriate actions. On the work front, Mouni was last seen in the JioHotstar series Salakaar, directed by Faruk Kabir.
