Speculation has been rife in Bollywood circles about a potential on-screen reunion between director Mohit Suri and actor Aditya Roy Kapur following the blockbuster success of Suri's 2025 romantic drama Saiyaara. The film, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda and produced by Yash Raj Films, emerged as one of the year's biggest hits, grossing over ₹570 crore worldwide with its emotional storytelling, soulful music, and heartfelt romance. This triumph, marking Suri's highest-grossing project to date, naturally fueled fan excitement for his next venture, with many hoping for a collaboration with Roy Kapur, who rose to fame under Suri's direction in the iconic 2013 musical romance Aashiqui 2 alongside Shraddha Kapoor.
The duo's professional history has long been a point of interest for audiences. Aashiqui 2 became a cultural phenomenon, celebrated for its poignant narrative of love, ambition, and tragedy, along with its chart-topping soundtrack that propelled both the leads and the film's music to widespread acclaim. They reunited in 2020 for the action-thriller Malang, where Roy Kapur delivered a more intense performance. Their enduring friendship off-screen, often highlighted in media, only amplified expectations for another project, especially as rumors circulated about Roy Kapur being considered for Suri's upcoming YRF-backed love story.
However, both Mohit Suri and Aditya Roy Kapur have firmly dismissed these reports in a recent interview with Bombay Times. Suri clarified that while he and Roy Kapur remain close friends who frequently meet to play cricket along with Shaad Randhawa, no professional discussions have taken place. He emphasized that the script for his next film is still in development and not intended for Roy Kapur, adding that he will announce details only once everything is finalized. Roy Kapur echoed this with humor, stating that their meetings are strictly for cricket—where he jokingly claims to "clean bowl" the director—and that any talk of him opting out of a project is baseless, as no such conversations occurred.

The clarification puts an end to the immediate buzz, though fans continue to express hope for a future collaboration given the proven chemistry and success of their past ventures. Suri, riding high on Saiyaara's acclaim, is focused on crafting his next romantic musical, while Roy Kapur's recent appearances keep him in the spotlight. For now, their bond remains firmly in the realm of friendship rather than a new cinematic pairing.
