Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar have finally put an end to their five-year-long legal feud, marking a significant resolution in their years-long dispute over defamation.
The culmination occurred at a magistrate’s court in Mumbai, where both parties reached an agreement through mediation. Kangana Ranaut took to social media to announce the development, sharing a picture alongside Akhtar, emphasizing his kindness and graciousness throughout the process.
"Today, Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. In the mediation, Javed ji has been very kind and gracious. He also agreed to write songs for my next directorial,” Kangana wrote in her post.
The legal discord stemmed from allegations made by Javed Akhtar in 2020, accusing Kangana of defamatory remarks made during a televised interview. This incident was a part of a broader narrative involving Kangana Ranaut's public disputes, including a notable fallout with actor Hrithik Roshan in 2016, during which Akhtar, reportedly close to the Roshan family, had intervened.
Akhtar asserted that Ranaut's statements linking him to actor Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic death had tarnished his otherwise impeccable reputation. In response, Ranaut retaliated with her own legal actions, filing a counter-complaint alleging criminal intimidation and insult to modesty against Akhtar.
The resolution at the magistrate's court signifies a mutual understanding and a step towards closure for both parties after years of legal wrangling. The agreement not only resolves their personal grievances but also underscores the potential for reconciliation and collaboration in the entertainment industry.
