Veteran actor Govinda once left nearly 15,000 fans waiting at a live show, forcing organisers to improvise dramatically after the star failed to appear, music composer and event organiser Abu Malik has revealed in a recent interview.
Recalling the incident from years ago, Abu Malik said the show had been organised in Maharashtra’s Pusad village by producer Atmaprakash Sharma, Govinda’s brother-in-law. The event drew a massive crowd eager to watch the popular actor perform, and even a helicopter was reportedly arranged to bring him to the venue. However, Govinda did not turn up, leaving organisers scrambling to manage the situation.
With the restless crowd growing impatient, Abu Malik turned to his younger brother Daboo Malik, who bore a close resemblance to Govinda. According to Malik, he asked Daboo to quickly dress in a shiny costume and take the stage while announcements continued to assure the audience that the star would arrive soon.

Daboo Malik then performed on stage, dancing to Govinda’s popular songs to keep the crowd engaged. Meanwhile, the organisers reportedly kept a bus ready behind the venue for a quick exit once the performance ended, anticipating a possible backlash from the large gathering.
Govinda, who was once known for his chart-topping films and mass popularity, was last seen on screen in the 2019 film Rangeela Raja. The anecdote has resurfaced amid renewed public interest in the actor’s past and career.
