Akshay Kumar’s latest horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla continues its theatrical run with steady momentum over its opening weekend, showing moderate growth despite mixed-to-positive audience response. The film, directed in a signature Priyadarshan style, has managed to maintain visibility at the box office driven by strong star power and nostalgia around its ensemble cast.
On its first day, Bhooth Bangla registered an India net collection of ₹12.25 crore across 12,386 shows, with an overall occupancy of 19.0%. The film also had a pre-release preview boost, collecting ₹3.75 crore on day 0, which helped set initial momentum ahead of its official release.
As per early industry tracking reports for day 2, the film has so far collected ₹4.91 crore, taking its total India net earnings to approximately ₹20.91 crore. Including gross figures, the film’s overall India total has reached around ₹24.99 crore. However, final numbers for the day are expected to change as evening and night shows are added.

Occupancy trends for day 2 show a slight dip overall, with early morning reports indicating 13.85% average attendance. Regional performance has varied significantly, with the National Capital Region leading in volume at 1,128 shows but recording a modest 14% occupancy. Mumbai followed with 754 shows and 16% occupancy, while Ahmedabad lagged at 9%.
Some cities have shown relatively better traction. Pune recorded the highest occupancy among major centres at 22%, while Chennai and Jaipur posted moderate figures around 19%. In contrast, Surat reported one of the weakest performances at just 4%, highlighting uneven audience turnout across regions.
Despite mixed occupancy levels, trade analysts suggest that the weekend could still prove crucial for the film’s performance, especially given its family-entertainer appeal and lack of major new competition in theatres. With an ensemble cast featuring Paresh Rawal, Manoj Joshi, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Mithila Palkar, the film is expected to rely on word-of-mouth to sustain its box office run in the coming days.
