The cult classic ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, starring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, has made a triumphant return to the big screen, collecting Rs 1.2 crore at the domestic box office during its re-release opening weekend.
Also featuring Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Paresh Rawal, and Shakti Kapoor, the 1994 comedy was re-released on April 25 and has been met with an enthusiastic response from fans.
According to distributors, audiences have turned screenings into lively celebrations, reciting iconic dialogues and singing along to songs during the shows. "The enthusiasm is contagious. The film earned Rs 25.75 lakh on its first day, followed by Rs 45.50 lakh on day two and Rs 51.25 lakh on day three, according to figures shared by the distributors.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and presented by Vinay Pictures, Andaz Apna Apna follows Amar and Prem, two bumbling young men vying for the affections of a wealthy heiress, leading to a series of hilarious misadventures.
Though the film was not a commercial success upon its initial release, it gained cult status over the years through television reruns and home video. Its quirky characters and memorable dialogues — such as "Teja main hoon, mark idhar hai," "Crime Master Gogo, Mogambo ka bhatija," and "Do dost ek cup mein chai piyenge" — have only grown in popularity, particularly in the age of memes and social media reels.
The re-release has rekindled nostalgia among longtime fans while introducing a new generation to one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved comedies.
