Aamir Khan has clarified that his upcoming production, Ek Din, starring his son Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, is not connected to Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, despite fan speculation following the trailer’s release. The teaser and trailer sparked comparisons online due to certain thematic similarities, particularly around moments of fleeting memory and romance.
Ek Din marks Sai Pallavi’s Bollywood debut alongside Junaid Khan, who previously starred in Loveyapa with Khushi Kapoor. The film’s teaser premiered on January 16, 2026, with the official trailer releasing on March 11, 2026. Fans quickly drew parallels to Saiyaara, noting a key scene where Pallavi’s character Meera says, “Ye din meri zindagi ka sabh se khoobsurat din hai” (“This is the most beautiful day of my life”), to which Junaid Khan’s character responds, “Par kal tumhe ye din yaad nahi rahega” (“But tomorrow, you won’t remember it”), reminiscent of Saiyaara’s Alzheimer’s storyline.
Addressing the speculation, Aamir Khan told Variety India, “No! No! Our film is completely different!” He described Ek Din as a “magical love story” and “a very classic kind of romance genre,” emphasizing that it is a pure, mushy romantic film, the type he personally enjoys as an audience member.

The movie is a Hindi remake of the 2016 Thai film One Day. It follows Rohan (Junaid Khan), a man who lacks the courage to confess his love to colleague Meera (Sai Pallavi). On a trip, he encounters a ‘fortune bell’ that grants him the opportunity to be with her for a single day, but with unforeseen consequences.
In contrast, Saiyaara starred Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, focusing on Krish, whose romantic relationship faces turmoil when Vani Batra, played by Aneet, struggles with Alzheimer’s. The emotional tension revolves around love, memory loss, and personal sacrifice—elements that are not present in Ek Din.
Produced by Aamir Khan, Mansoor Khan, and Aparna Purohit, Ek Din aims to capture the essence of classic romance without the tragic memory-loss narrative. The clarification comes amid fan confusion and online debates, reinforcing that Ek Din is an original adaptation rather than a reimagining of Saiyaara.
