Volkswagen has officially unveiled the India-spec Tayron R-Line, a premium seven-seater SUV set to become the brand's new flagship model in the Indian market. Scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2026, the Tayron will sit above the Tiguan R-Line in the lineup, marking Volkswagen's strong re-entry into the three-row premium SUV segment after discontinuing the Tiguan Allspace in 2021.
The Tayron R-Line combines bold, sporty styling with spacious three-row practicality, targeting families and buyers who want a blend of luxury, German engineering, and road presence. The R-Line variant features aggressive front and rear bumpers, signature R-Line badging, blacked-out accents, larger alloy wheels, and a more dynamic overall stance that sets it apart from standard models.
The Tayron is built on Volkswagen's proven MQB platform, promising generous interior space across all three rows, premium materials, advanced infotainment, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a comprehensive suite of safety features, including multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and likely ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) in higher variants.

While full powertrain details for the Indian market are yet to be confirmed, the SUV is expected to offer refined turbo-petrol and/or diesel engine options paired with automatic transmissions, with the possibility of 4Motion all-wheel drive in select trims.
Volkswagen aims to challenge established players in the premium seven-seater SUV space, including the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian. With its sophisticated design, R-Line sporty appeal, and focus on comfort and technology, the Tayron R-Line is positioned to attract buyers seeking a more premium and refined alternative in the segment.
The official launch is expected in Q1 2026, with detailed pricing, variant structure, and feature list to be announced closer to the debut. This introduction signals Volkswagen's renewed focus on strengthening its presence in India's fast-growing premium SUV market.
