Toyota has officially unveiled the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, its first all-electric SUV for the Indian market, marking the brand’s entry into the fast-growing mid-size electric SUV segment. Sharing its platform with the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, the new model aims to combine Toyota’s global EV design language with familiar underpinnings. Bookings for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder have opened with a token amount of ₹25,000.
Positioned as a direct rival to the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV, the Urban Cruiser Ebella is expected to strengthen Toyota’s presence in India’s electric mobility space. With this launch, Toyota is targeting buyers looking for a practical yet premium electric SUV backed by a trusted brand name.
In terms of design, the Urban Cruiser Ebella closely mirrors the silhouette of the e-Vitara but distinguishes itself through Toyota-specific styling cues. The front fascia adopts a sharper, international Toyota EV look, paired with a sculpted bonnet that adds a muscular stance. Character lines along the sides and aerodynamically designed alloy wheels enhance its road presence. The SUV measures 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, while riding on a 2,700 mm wheelbase.

Toyota is offering the Urban Cruiser Ebella in multiple colour options, including Cafe White, Bluish Black, Gaming Grey, Sporting Red and Enticing Silver. Dual-tone variants are also available, featuring Cafe White, Land Breeze Green, Sporting Red and Enticing Silver, all paired with a contrasting black roof for a more premium appeal.
Inside, the electric SUV features a dual-tone black-and-brown cabin, with a dashboard layout similar to the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Feature highlights include a panoramic sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, wireless charging, a JBL sound system, ambient lighting and a rotary dial-type gear selector. On the safety front, Toyota has equipped the Ebella with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS technology.
Powering the Urban Cruiser Ebella are two battery pack options — 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The electric motor produces 171.6 hp and 189 Nm of torque, with Toyota claiming a maximum driving range of up to 543 km on a single charge. The SUV will be available with both 2WD and AWD configurations, making it one of the more versatile offerings in India’s mid-size electric SUV segment.
