MG Motor is set to launch its new flagship SUV, the MG Majestor, in India on April 20, 2026, marking a significant entry into the premium full-size SUV segment. The model is expected to replace the aging MG Gloster and compete directly with established rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian.
The Majestor is positioned as a rugged, full-size SUV built on a ladder-frame chassis, targeting buyers seeking both luxury and off-road capability. It is expected to feature a bold, boxy design language, aligning with global trends in large SUVs while offering a commanding road presence tailored for Indian consumers.
Under the hood, the SUV is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing around 215 horsepower and 478.5 Nm of torque. The engine is expected to be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, along with a four-wheel-drive system equipped with multiple terrain modes and differential locks to enhance off-road performance.

Inside the cabin, the Majestor is expected to offer a feature-rich interior with dual 12.4-inch digital displays, advanced infotainment systems, and premium audio. Additional features may include a multi-zone climate control system, panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), placing it competitively in the segment.
The vehicle is also likely to focus on passenger comfort, offering three-row seating and features such as ventilated and massage-enabled front seats. However, market response will depend on how effectively MG balances luxury features with practical usability and ride comfort, particularly given the challenges often associated with large ladder-frame SUVs.
Industry observers note that pricing will be a key factor in determining the Majestor’s success in the competitive ₹40–45 lakh segment. With its official price announcement scheduled for April 20, the Majestor’s entry is expected to intensify competition in the premium SUV space and potentially reshape buyer preferences in the segment.
