Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has unveiled the next-generation BYD Atto 3 at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, introducing major upgrades in driving range and charging speed. The refreshed model, sold as the Yuan Plus in China, now offers a claimed range of up to 630 kilometres under the CLTC testing cycle. The announcement highlights BYD’s continued push to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing global electric SUV market.
One of the biggest talking points of the new Atto 3 is its ultra-fast charging capability. According to reports, the vehicle’s Blade battery pack can be charged from 10 per cent to 97 per cent in just nine minutes under supported high-speed charging conditions. If achieved in real-world use, such performance would mark a significant step forward in reducing charging downtime, one of the main concerns for EV buyers considering a switch from petrol or diesel vehicles.
The updated model is expected to feature refinements in battery efficiency, software integration, and cabin technology, although full market-specific specifications may vary by region. BYD’s Blade battery technology has already gained attention for its safety-focused cell design and durability. The new generation Atto 3 is likely to compete aggressively in markets where compact electric SUVs are becoming increasingly popular, including Asia, Europe, and selected emerging markets.

In India, the current BYD Atto 3 has already established a niche presence in the premium EV segment. The debut of the upgraded version could increase pressure on rival automakers to improve range and charging infrastructure support. As competition intensifies globally, BYD’s latest launch signals how fast EV technology is evolving, with longer ranges and rapid charging becoming key expectations for future buyers.
