BYD India has announced a price hike of up to ₹1 lakh across select variants of its electric vehicle lineup in the Indian market, effective July 1, 2026. The revision will impact popular models including the BYD Atto 3, BYD Seal and BYD Sealion 7, with price increases ranging between ₹50,000 and ₹1,00,000 depending on the variant. According to the company, the price revision applies only to select trims within its passenger electric vehicle portfolio.
Certain variants of the Atto 3 and the BYD eMAX 7 will remain unaffected by the increase, offering some relief to buyers in specific segments. The company has positioned the adjustment as part of a broader strategy linked to rising operational costs and ongoing expansion in India. BYD India stated that the decision has been taken in response to multiple factors, including inflationary pressures, higher input costs and continued investment in strengthening its dealership network and technology capabilities.
The automaker has been expanding its footprint in India’s growing electric mobility market, where competition is intensifying with both domestic and global players. In addition to the price revision, BYD India has also introduced new Comfort variants of the eMAX 7 MPV. These newly launched trims are priced from ₹27.90 lakh and come equipped with an upgraded 71.8 kWh battery pack. The enhancement is aimed at improving driving range and overall product appeal for Indian consumers seeking premium electric mobility solutions.

Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, said the company has received encouraging customer response across its electric passenger vehicle portfolio. He added that as BYD continues to invest in technology development, customer experience and network expansion, a selective price revision has been implemented across certain variants.
The Atto 3, Seal and Sealion 7 remain key models in BYD’s India strategy, catering to different segments of the premium electric vehicle market. The Atto 3 targets compact SUV buyers, the Seal competes in the electric sedan space, while the Sealion 7 is positioned as a larger SUV offering for families and long-distance users. The latest price revision is expected to slightly impact on-road costs for prospective buyers but is unlikely to significantly alter demand momentum, given the growing interest in EV adoption in India.
Industry analysts note that price adjustments in the EV segment are becoming increasingly common as manufacturers balance localisation efforts, import dependencies and supply chain fluctuations. With India’s electric vehicle market expanding steadily, companies like BYD are focusing on long-term positioning through product upgrades, expanded variants and service network growth despite short-term pricing changes.
