BMW India has introduced updates to the 5 Series Long Wheelbase (LWB) sedan, enhancing its luxury features while maintaining the ex-showroom price at ₹73.35 lakh. Launched as a mid-cycle refresh on December 13, 2025, the model continues to bridge the gap between the 3 Series and 7 Series, competing directly with the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, and Lexus ES in the executive sedan segment.
The standout addition is the Panorama Glassroof Sky Lounge, featuring a printed graphic design on the glass panel integrated with LED lighting for customisable colour effects. This system syncs with the vehicle's ambient lighting, adapts to driving modes, and remains visible in daylight, flooding the cabin with natural light for an airier feel, particularly benefiting rear passengers in the extended wheelbase configuration.
Safety enhancements come via the new Driving Assistant Plus package, incorporating lane-change warnings, front and rear collision alerts, cross-traffic detection, and Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality. The adaptive system maintains speed and distance from vehicles ahead, detects stationary objects, and can bring the car to a complete halt if needed, with controls accessible via steering wheel buttons.

Mechanically unchanged, the 5 Series LWB retains its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid setup, delivering 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque through an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Performance figures include a 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, supplemented by the hybrid system's boost of 11 hp and 25 Nm.
Interior refinements emphasise premium materials, including vegan dual-tone upholstery, ergonomic seats, wooden dashboard accents, an illuminated Interaction Bar, and glass-finished controls. Standard luxuries encompass four-zone climate control, generous rear legroom, BMW Live Cockpit Plus with curved dual displays, Digital Key Plus, wireless charging for front and rear, an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system (655 watts), and ventilated front seats.
These updates reinforce the 5 Series LWB's position as a chauffeur-driven luxury option in India, prioritising rear-seat comfort and advanced technology without altering its proven powertrain or pricing strategy.
