Yamaha Motor India has announced a price reduction on its flagship YZF-R15 series as part of the brand’s 70th Anniversary Special Price initiative, effective January 5, 2026. The revised pricing marks a special gesture for Indian riders during Yamaha’s milestone year. The company, however, has not specified how long the special rates will remain in effect.
The Rs 5,000 reduction applies across all R15 variants for the 2026 model year. With this revision, the R15 S (previous-gen R15 V3.0) now starts at Rs 1.51 lakh (ex-showroom), the R15 V4 begins at Rs 1.66 lakh, and the top-spec R15 M is priced from Rs 1.81 lakh (ex-showroom). The move is expected to expand Yamaha’s reach among budget-conscious enthusiasts and young riders.
Mechanically, the R15 remains unchanged. It continues to feature a 155 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 18 hp at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, paired with a six-speed transmission. The bike retains its quick-shifter, traction control system, and sporty styling, ensuring the performance remains uncompromised.

Apart from the price cut, Yamaha is preparing to expand its supersport portfolio in India. The company has trademarked the R2, which is expected to launch during the 2026 festive season. The bike will be designed and developed entirely in India and produced at Yamaha’s Chennai facility, highlighting the brand’s focus on domestically engineered sportbikes.
Reports suggest the R2 will not only cater to Indian buyers but also target international markets, indicating Yamaha’s ambition to strengthen its global presence. For now, the R15’s price cut offers an immediate opportunity for riders looking to own one of India’s most popular supersport motorcycles.
The anniversary pricing, while temporary, reinforces Yamaha’s commitment to connecting with enthusiasts and celebrating 70 years of innovation and performance in the Indian market.
