BMW is all set to fire up India’s premium compact sedan segment with the launch of the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe on July 17, 2025. Pre-bookings for the sleek new model are now officially open via BMW India’s website and dealerships across the country.
The spotlight is firmly on the BMW 218i Gran Coupe M Sport, the first variant to hit Indian roads. It packs a punch with its 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, delivering 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox powering the front wheels.
Bigger, Bolder, and Sportier
Built on BMW’s UKL2 platform, the new Gran Coupe retains its predecessor’s 2,670 mm wheelbase and 1,800 mm width but sees modest growth elsewhere. The length has stretched by 20 mm to 4,546 mm, and height is up by 25 mm to 1,445 mm, offering a roomier cabin and 430 litres of boot space.

With the M Sport package, the 218i gets a striking makeover – complete with sharper bumpers, black accents, and 18-inch alloy wheels as standard. The adaptive LED headlights and a redesigned grille add to its aggressive, modern appeal.
A Cabin That Blends Luxury and Tech
Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by BMW’s signature minimalist design. A standout feature is the curved glass display, merging a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, both running on BMW’s latest OS9 software.
The interior gets a rich mocha brown upholstery, with other customization options available. Tech lovers will appreciate features like a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, 360-degree camera, automatic parking, and a robust ADAS suite.
BMW has also added a futuristic touch with its digital key – letting users lock/unlock, pre-cool the cabin, and access the boot remotely.
Petrol-Only… For Now
At launch, BMW is offering only the petrol-powered 218i variant, but it’s poised to take on rivals like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine head-on.
With bookings now live and anticipation building, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is ready to shake up the Indian compact luxury car space with style, performance, and innovation.
