Bajaj Auto has launched an updated version of its Pulsar NS400Z, introducing a revised engine while retaining the motorcycle’s existing design, feature set, and pricing strategy. The update marks a significant mechanical change for the streetfighter-style bike, positioning it within a new performance and regulatory framework while keeping it accessible in the competitive Indian motorcycle market.
The key change in the updated Pulsar NS400Z is its new 349.13cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This unit replaces the earlier 373cc motor and is also shared with the updated Dominar 400. The engine produces 40 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 33.2 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. While these figures are slightly lower than the outgoing version, the revised tuning is expected to improve rideability and offer smoother power delivery for everyday use.
According to the company’s positioning, the shift to a sub-350cc displacement is also strategically important. It allows the motorcycle to fall under a more favourable taxation category in India, which can help maintain competitive pricing while aligning with evolving regulatory and market considerations. Bajaj has not indicated major changes to the bike’s riding dynamics beyond the engine revision.

In terms of design, the Pulsar NS400Z remains unchanged. It continues to feature its aggressive streetfighter styling, sharp bodywork, and muscular stance that has been a defining element of the Pulsar lineup. The overall look and road presence remain consistent, aimed at attracting younger riders seeking a sporty and bold motorcycle.
The feature list is also carried forward without alterations. The bike is built on a perimeter frame and comes equipped with upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock suspension setup. It includes dual-channel ABS, multiple ride modes, and traction control, maintaining its position as a well-equipped offering in its segment with a strong focus on safety and performance technology.
Despite the mechanical update, Bajaj has kept the price unchanged at around ₹1.93 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing strategy ensures that the Pulsar NS400Z continues to remain one of the more value-driven performance motorcycles in the Indian market, balancing upgraded compliance with affordability.
