Ather Energy has rolled out its new Infinite Cruise system on the popular 450X electric scooter, bringing advanced software-driven features to over 44,000 existing owners via an over-the-air (OTA) update. The feature was first introduced on the Ather 450 Apex in August 2025 and is now standard on all new 450X models. Ather positions this as a reimagined take on conventional cruise control, optimized specifically for urban conditions.
Unlike traditional cruise control systems designed for high-speed highway cruising, Infinite Cruise is tailored for city riding, where scooters often operate below 30 kmph amid heavy traffic, uneven roads, and frequent stops. The system automatically adjusts to changes in speed, maintaining activation even when the rider brakes or accelerates, thereby reducing throttle fatigue during stop-and-go traffic.
The system operates across a speed range of 10 to 90 kmph and incorporates three specialized modes: CityCruise, Hill Control, and Crawl Control. CityCruise adjusts the scooter’s pace according to surrounding traffic, Hill Control stabilizes speeds on inclines and declines while utilizing regenerative braking adjustments, and Crawl Control provides precision handling at very low speeds, particularly on rough or uneven surfaces.

Ather Energy has also integrated Multimode Traction Control with Infinite Cruise to enhance grip on slippery or uneven terrain. This ensures that riders can maintain stability and confidence in diverse urban conditions, a feature particularly valuable for Indian roads where road surfaces and traffic patterns can vary widely.
The OTA update highlights Ather’s focus on backward compatibility, allowing owners who purchased 450X scooters after January 1, 2025, to enjoy the feature without any hardware changes. This is part of Ather’s broader strategy to enhance the riding experience through software innovations, making daily commutes smoother and more convenient for urban riders.
With the Infinite Cruise update, Ather 450X owners can expect a more relaxed and controlled ride, minimizing rider fatigue while navigating dense traffic. The company continues to leverage software-driven upgrades as a differentiator in India’s growing electric scooter market, emphasizing smart, adaptive technology for city mobility.
