Vivo has revived its S-series in India with the launch of the Vivo S2, bringing back a smartphone nameplate that first appeared in the country in 2019. Positioned in the sub-₹50,000 segment, the new model is presented as a spiritual successor to the Vivo S1 rather than a direct continuation of the earlier device. It combines a curved display, contemporary styling and upgraded internal hardware.
The Vivo S2 arrives as smartphone manufacturers reconsider their product strategies amid declining global shipments. While some brands have introduced more entry-level devices and others have created new affordable lineups, Vivo has chosen to revive an established series. The strategy allows the company to benefit from the S-series’ existing recognition while adapting it to the expectations of buyers in 2026.
Design is one of the smartphone’s most prominent features. The Vivo S2 measures 164.42 x 75.25 x 8.1mm and weighs 199 grams, giving it a relatively slim profile despite its large battery. It is offered in Regal Bronze, Sapphire Blue and Silk White colour options. The handset also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water.

At the rear, Vivo has used a horizontal, pill-shaped camera module with square-rounded camera lenses and a ring-style LED flash. Although similar horizontal arrangements have appeared on other smartphones, the lens treatment and lighting design help distinguish the S2. Combined with the curved front panel and multiple colour finishes, the device places considerable emphasis on visual appeal.
The curved AMOLED screen is described as one of the Vivo S2’s strongest features, while its software reportedly delivers a smooth user experience. The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek chipset and carries a 7,050mAh battery, an unusually large capacity for a device measuring 8.1mm in thickness. These specifications are intended to balance everyday performance, display quality and extended battery life.
The Vivo S2 enters a competitive price category in which buyers expect strong performance, dependable cameras and premium construction. Its curved AMOLED display, substantial battery, dust and water resistance, and distinctive design strengthen its appeal. However, its overall value will depend on how consistently its chipset, cameras and software experience perform compared with rival smartphones available for less than ₹50,000.
