Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at its Galaxy Unpacked event, introducing a new premium foldable smartphone with upgraded hardware, artificial intelligence features and a redesigned foldable display system. The device is positioned as the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and comes with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, a large AMOLED inner display and enhanced camera capabilities.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at $2,100, which is approximately Rs 2.03 lakh, for the 256GB storage model. The smartphone is available in Graphite, Cream and Violet Shadow colour options, while customers purchasing through Samsung’s online store can access an exclusive Green Shadow variant. Pre-orders have started in select markets, with launch offers including a six-month trial of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage.
The foldable smartphone features an 8-inch AMOLED internal display and a 6.5-inch AMOLED cover screen, with both displays supporting variable refresh rates of up to 120Hz. The main screen offers up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness and includes an anti-reflective coating. Samsung has also introduced Flex Titanium technology, combining a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium frame to improve durability and reduce the visibility of the display crease over time.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. Samsung has added an expanded graphite cooling structure to improve thermal management during intensive tasks such as gaming, multitasking and AI-based operations.
The device runs on Android 17 with Samsung’s One UI 9 interface and includes expanded Galaxy AI features such as Now Brief, Now Nudge and Gemini Intelligence. Samsung said Gemini can automate actions across more than 40 supported applications and services, while Gemini Notebook can combine notes, images, recordings, files and documents into a single workspace. One UI 9 also introduces an AI Assistant Activity dashboard for managing AI-driven functions.
For photography, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features a triple rear camera setup led by a 200-megapixel wide-angle sensor, supported by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens. The phone includes 10-megapixel cameras on both the inner and cover displays for selfies and video calls, along with improved HDR support, macro photography, Nightography enhancements and 8K video recording at 30 frames per second.
The smartphone is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery supporting 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth and USB Type-C, while security features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The device measures 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.1mm when unfolded, 158.4 x 72.8 x 8.9mm when folded, weighs 215 grams and carries an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance.
