iQOO may not launch its upcoming flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16, in India this year due to rising component costs, according to a recent claim by a tipster. The company is reportedly reconsidering its India product strategy amid increasing memory component prices, which could push the expected price of the device beyond a level that may be difficult to justify in the competitive premium smartphone segment.
According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the iQOO 16 is unlikely to arrive in the Indian market this year. The claim suggests that rising prices of memory components have affected the smartphone maker's launch plans, with the expected increase in manufacturing costs potentially pushing the handset's price above Rs. 85,000. Such pricing could make it challenging for iQOO to position the device against other premium smartphones in India.
The iQOO 16 has been the subject of several leaks and reports in recent weeks, with earlier speculation suggesting that the flagship model could debut in China before making its way to international markets, including India. However, the latest information indicates that the company may limit its India launches and adjust its roadmap due to changing market conditions.

For comparison, the previous-generation iQOO 15 was launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 72,999 for the variant featuring 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The higher-end model with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage was introduced at Rs. 79,999. However, recent increases in memory component costs have reportedly led to price revisions, with the same configurations now available at higher prices of Rs. 76,999 and Rs. 83,999, respectively.
The rising cost of memory components has become a challenge for smartphone manufacturers globally, affecting production expenses and retail pricing strategies. Premium smartphones rely heavily on advanced memory and storage technologies, and fluctuations in component prices can significantly impact the final cost of devices. Companies are increasingly being forced to balance hardware upgrades with consumer expectations around pricing.
The tipster also claimed that iQOO has reduced its planned smartphone launches for India this year. According to the report, the brand is expected to introduce only one budget Z-series smartphone in the country, while other upcoming models that were previously considered for the Indian market have reportedly been shelved.
iQOO has not officially confirmed whether the iQOO 16 will launch in India or provided details about its future product roadmap for the country. Until the company makes an official announcement, the reported cancellation or delay of the India launch remains based on unofficial information. However, if the claims are accurate, the move would mark a significant shift in iQOO's strategy as the brand reassesses premium smartphone opportunities amid rising hardware costs.
