Bayern Munich are making history under the guidance of Coach Vincent Kompany, who has masterminded a record-breaking first half of the 2025-26 Bundesliga season. The reigning German Champions sit atop the table with 47 points, scoring an impressive 66 goals without suffering a single defeat, giving them an 11-point lead at the halfway stage. Despite early criticism about a supposedly undersized squad, Kompany credits the team’s internal balance and unity for their dominant form.
“The squad is well-suited to achieving our goals. We kept calm and developed a spirit of unity that goes beyond the starting eleven,” said Kompany, highlighting how only 20 players have been actively used so far—far fewer than most European competitors. This tight-knit approach has allowed Bayern to integrate backup players seamlessly, ensuring consistent performance despite injuries to key stars.
Players like Hiroki Ito, Min-Jae Kim, Leon Goretzka, and Serge Gnabry have stepped up when Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich, and Alphonso Davies were sidelined, contributing goals and assists. Kompany has emphasized creating an environment where every player feels valued, allowing younger squad members to gain meaningful minutes in controlled situations. “We faced outside criticism at the start of the season but stayed calm. The board's decisions turned out to be perfect,” he noted.

Sports magazine Kicker praised the 39-year-old coach for his “healthy mixture of ease and determination,” citing his management style as key to the potential contract extension of French international Dayot Upamecano. Kompany keeps discipline while allowing players to shine, and the squad takes pride in executing his intense pressing system, covering more than 125 kilometers per game on average.
Looking ahead, Kompany is keen on integrating newcomer Lennart Karl and eagerly awaiting Musiala’s return, joking, “If that creates 'problems,' I'm happy to have them.” While the team approaches historic milestones like the 101-goal record from 1971-72 and Robert Lewandowski’s 41-goal season in 2020-21, the coach remains focused on Bayern’s ultimate goal: winning the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.
