India Under-19’s promising beginning against Zimbabwe hit an unexpected roadblock during their Super Six encounter at the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 in Bulawayo on Tuesday. After a fluent batting display, India slipped to three wickets down, allowing Zimbabwe to claw their way back into the contest.
The turning point came with the dismissal of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was removed for a well-crafted 52 by Tatenda Chimugoro. Suryavanshi looked in sublime touch, anchoring the innings with confidence and control before his departure abruptly slowed India’s scoring momentum.
Earlier in the innings, Chimugoro had already delivered a major blow by dismissing Indian skipper Ayush Mhatre for 21. Mhatre, who had guided India to a win against New Zealand in their previous Group B match, failed to convert his start, leaving India vulnerable in the middle overs.

At the time of writing, India were three wickets down with Vihaan Malhotra and Vedant Trivedi at the crease, tasked with stabilizing the innings. The duo faces the challenge of rebuilding while keeping the scoreboard moving against a disciplined Zimbabwe bowling attack.
Zimbabwe captain Simbarashe Mudzengerere set the tone by winning the toss and electing to bowl first, a decision that appears to be paying dividends. With early breakthroughs and growing pressure on India, the match is finely poised as both teams push for dominance in this crucial Super Six fixture.
