Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain was crowned champion of the Telangana Golconda Masters 2025 after relentless heavy rain forced the cancellation of the final round at the Hyderabad Golf Association course. The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) declared the tournament’s outcome based on the 54-hole scores, with Hossain’s commanding 23-under-par 187 (61-62-64) securing his sixth career title and first victory since November 2024. The 40-year-old from Dhaka claimed the Rs 15 lakh winner’s purse, catapulting him from 14th to 10th in the PGTI Order of Merit.
Hossain’s triumph was marked by exceptional consistency, driven by pinpoint driving and masterful putting. His opening round of 11-under 61 set the tone, giving him a four-shot lead over the field after three rounds. Reflecting on his victory, Hossain expressed elation: “I’m thrilled to finally win this season after coming close earlier this year. My driving and putting were consistent, and that first round of 61 set up the tournament for me.” With his sights set on the upcoming DP World India Championship in Delhi, Hossain added, “My form is building well, and I’m eager to make a mark next month.”
Chandigarh’s Akshay Sharma secured the runner-up position with a 19-under 191 (62-64-65), earning Rs 10 lakh and climbing from 34th to 21st in the PGTI rankings. Bengaluru’s Khalin Joshi took third place at 13-under 197 (65-66-66), while Delhi’s Arjun Prasad finished sixth at 11-under 199, retaining his second spot in the season’s earnings list with Rs 69,71,599. Chandigarh-based Yuvraj Sandhu, absent from this event, continues to lead the PGTI money list with Rs 88,67,200.

Among local talents, Hyderabad’s Vishesh Sharma shone brightest, finishing tied for 22nd at 5-under 205. The Rs 1 crore tournament, a highlight of the PGTI calendar, underscored Hyderabad’s growing prominence as a golfing hub, despite the weather-induced truncation. Hossain’s victory not only boosts his confidence but also positions him as a formidable contender for the season’s remaining high-stakes events.
