Novak Djokovic marked another historic milestone Monday night by securing his 100th match win at the Australian Open, following a dominant 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Spain’s Pedro Martinez. The 38-year-old celebrated the achievement, calling it “nice to hear” and reflecting on the significance of becoming a centurion at Melbourne Park.
By starting his 21st Australian Open, Djokovic equaled Roger Federer’s record for most appearances at the tournament. In addition, his 81st Grand Slam appearance tied the all-time record shared by Federer and Feliciano Lopez, showcasing the Serb’s enduring presence in elite tennis.
Djokovic displayed vintage form on Rod Laver Arena, hitting a running crosscourt forehand winner early in the match and serving flawlessly throughout. He did not face a single breakpoint, won 93% of first-serve points, and fired 14 aces, including one on match point, signaling his intent for the title.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion now holds a 100-10 record at Melbourne Park, with 10 Australian Open titles. He also boasts 102 wins at Wimbledon and 101 at Roland Garros, highlighting his consistent dominance across major tournaments. Djokovic expressed his goal of adding six more wins to claim his 25th major title.
Skipping warm-up tournaments to focus on recovery and preparation, Djokovic emphasized his commitment to peak performance. Despite reaching all four major semifinals in 2025, he was unable to surpass Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, making this Australian Open a key opportunity to reclaim major glory.
Reflecting on his journey, Djokovic said, “History making is a great motivation,” and praised his performance as a message not just to himself, but also to his competitors. His start at Melbourne Park sets the tone for a campaign aiming to further cement his legacy as the most decorated player in tennis history.
