More importantly, two of the important slots in the MI puzzle seem to have fallen in place finally. The batting of Rohit Sharma and Suryakuma Yadav. The importance of the two to the MI batting lineup cannot be overstated. They are certified legends in the MI pantheon over the years.

Rohit has faced scrutiny this season due to inconsistent form, managing just 148 runs in his first seven innings at an average of 21.14. Despite flashes of brilliance, including three sixes in a previous match, he struggled to convert his starts into impactful innings. However, last night there was a rejuvenated Rohit, as he hammered 76 off 45 balls, including four boundaries and six sixers. His hitting reminded fans why he is regarded as one of the finest batters in IPL history. This was Rohit's first half-century of the season, and it came at a crucial juncture for MI, lifting them to sixth place on the points table.
Suryakumar Yadav, known for his 360-degree batting style, has not had a poor season. But that big innings never came. But last night, he blasted 68 off 30 balls, featuring nine boundaries and three sixes. Suryakumar's ability to find gaps and score at a rapid pace was on full display, as he reached his half-century in just 26 balls. His partnership with Rohit, worth 114 runs off 54 balls, was instrumental in MI's chase of 177, which it achieved with 26 balls to spare. He now has 278 runs in eight innings at an average of 39.71 and a strike rate of 155.
The victory against CSK not only boosts MI's morale but also addresses key concerns in its batting lineup. MI now has a positive net run rate (+0.483) and is well-positioned to push for a playoff spot as all the main players seem to be getting into their true zone.
