Kylian Mbappe has dismissed reports suggesting that Real Madrid doctors examined the wrong knee during treatment for his injury late last year, calling the claims false and the result of miscommunication. The French star addressed the controversy amid growing speculation in European media regarding the handling of his fitness by the Spanish club.
The reports, initially published by RMC Sport, alleged that Real Madrid’s medical team had mistakenly scanned Mbappe’s right knee instead of his injured left knee in December. The claims were subsequently picked up by several Spanish outlets, amplifying concerns about potential medical oversight at one of the world’s biggest football clubs.
Responding to the allegations at a press conference ahead of an international fixture, Mbappe firmly rejected the narrative. He clarified that the reports were inaccurate and suggested that the lack of detailed communication about his condition may have contributed to speculation. The forward acknowledged that silence on injury updates often leads to misinterpretation, indirectly allowing such rumours to spread.

Real Madrid had earlier confirmed in December that Mbappe sustained a sprain in his left knee, aligning with the player’s recent clarification. Despite the injury, Mbappe continued to feature throughout January before being sidelined for approximately three and a half weeks, raising questions about the severity and management of the issue during that period.
Now recovering, Mbappe has gradually returned to action, featuring as a substitute in recent matches while regaining full fitness. He stated earlier this week that his knee is no longer causing concern and expressed relief after what he described as a mentally challenging phase marked by frustration, uncertainty, and anxiety over his condition.
Looking ahead, Mbappe is set to represent France national football team in upcoming international friendlies against Brazil national football team and Colombia national football team. With his fitness restored, the striker appears focused on regaining top form and putting the controversy behind him as he prepares for a crucial stretch of the season.
